John was Head of Phys Ed & Health at Hillcrest High School for 30 plus years & took up Watercolour painting when he retired at the young age of 62. His love of nature is reflected in his work and he advanced from starting off with muted colours to vibrant tones. He was so disciplined in every aspect of his life and studied hard for his art, taking courses here and abroad and learning by experimenting. He had such a wide range of subjects, not afraid to expand his repertoire. John was an award winning, published, juried artist. His paintings grace homes from Vancouver Island to Nova Scotia to England. He was a member of Artisans Northwest and local painting and figure drawing groups.
I am a Fabric & Mixed Media Artisan. My love of crafts and sewing started at an early age. I owned a Bridal Store many years ago , designing & creating beautiful wedding gowns then moved on to include crafts, creating, teaching in the public schools & in our Hobby & Craft Store we had. Now retired I create fabric & clay whimsical creatures. Fluid acrylics is my new venture .. I teach classes at home & will be an instructor at the Painted Turtle starting April 12th.. combining beautiful colours & manipulating the flow of paint on a canvas is so relaxing & rewarding! I am also a juried member of Artisans Northwest. I do several shows a year, here & in Alberta, and my condo is full of beautiful creations!!
