Jean was born and educated in England where she loved to draw and paint at an early age. She began painting with watercolours and oils in high school and later continued in Canada by taking evening classes by local teachers. A mutual friend introduced her to Zoltan Szabo in 1970 and her love of watercolour began again.
Through the years since then she has taken many workshops given by professional artists, both in Canada and the United States. Jean also attended the Lakehead University’s Fine Arts program from 1982-1984.
Jean now works mainly in watercolour. She has instructed many classes in Thunder Bay. Including the Board of Education Adult classes and evening classes. St. Joseph’s Heritage, the City of Thunder Bay Parks and Recreation Dept. for many years. These included drawing, watercolour, oil, and pen and ink. In 1990 she was instrumental in founding the Thunder Bay Watercolour Society and at present is acting as their president. Her paintings are in private collections both here and abroad.
Collections include Northwestern Ontario Regional Cancer Centre, St Joseph’s Care Group, Thunder Bay Regional Health and Science Centre, Bishop O’Mara, Mr. and Mrs. David James Elliot of Los Angeles, U.S.
